Falcons seem to dance around the stage and poke ICs into combos or get in and out of their range. I'm neither a Falcon or ICs main, so take this all with a grain of salt.įrom what I've seen, when Falcon wins against ICs, it's by flexing his superior movement and large hitboxes to move around the climbers, mostly through the air. Don't neglect this altogether because you "can't grab ics" Going for a quick grab with buffer dthrow, if you can be confident you are going to grab Popo, can be good. IC players are not used to or good at dealing with this, since they are used to the "avoid grab" mini-game. When Nana is on the side platform, if Nana is across the stage from Popo, she goes to the top platform. SDI down on dthrow dair is best IMO, let's you get grounded and pick from multiple different counterplays, including roll and raptor boost. ICs will very rarely be able to open you up if you are calculated getting off that side platform.īe careful with those retreating stomps/stomps in the corner. Take your time on the side platform and don't immediately get your next option read, most likely being a jump to top platform or a shield drop. Raptor boost can be pretty good when applying pressure and sometimes in neutral.īetween stocks, a good way to get away from ICs is to wait until they drop down from respawn platform, then go to the side platform. Ice climbers nana respawn free#When they Up+B with both climbers, you can almost always get a free knee on Nana and kill her, if you prefer that over going for Popo. Since she doesn't tech, you can usually just knee her repeatedly across the stage. Killing Nana is pretty damn easy for Falcon though, so definitely don't neglect her when you get a free opening. If she gets separated, hitting her with the front hit of dsmash and using the back hit to cover you from Popo can be good. Sometimes she'll literally stand on the other side of the stage while you fuck Popo up. 95% of the time, Nana doesn't do shit to stop you. Ledge guarding Popo, preferably with knee, tends to be easy as fuck. Just getting in there with knees and fucking up them eskimos is a totally viable way to play this matchup.ĭon't "always" go for Nana. Moreso than any other relevant matchup, Falcon can really flex on ICs and assert himself. Running away and jumping on platforms and shit is good in this matchup, but you absolutely do not need to play this way. Feel free to also post a question you have about the matchup, or state another player’s thoughts on it, anything that can contribute to the discussion is welcome!.If you can, point out some players or matches that exemplify the matchup or show some aspect of it well. You can discuss who wins and matchup ratios, but how the matchup plays out and which interactions matter the most are great starting points. Focus on evaluating the tool sets each character has in the matchup.Hey guys, quick pointers for discussion adapted from u/Ozurip ‘s threads from a couple years ago:
